Data transmission cables

Dataflex data transmission cables transmit signals extremely varies types with absolute signals integrity if they are selected appropriately and laid professionally.

The range includes non-screened, foil and/or braided-screened, double-screened cables, cables twisted with long or short lay lengths, pair-twisted cables and star quad-twisted cables with cross-sectional areas of 0.05Sqmm to 1.5 Sqmm and between 1 to 80 cores. The typical ratings of the cables are specified in the technical data section to the relevant cables types.

The Dataflex technology is used if maximum flexibility is required, such as is necessary in power chain, in addition to reliable data transmission. Cables of this type are manufactured screened, non-screened, with PVC sheathing.

Paired-conductor systems with twisted cores have high cross-talk attenuation at low frequencies. The arrangement of the cores in a star-quad provides good decoupling of two, double-circuit lines. Single-screened cable reduce interference in the lower and medium frequency band. Double-screened cable reduce interference in all frequency bands. Coaxial cables are also recommended for high signal frequencies.

The environment is full of interference and noise signals. These signals are transmitted by electromagnetic fields, electrical and magnetic alternating fields and electrical circuit coupling. Consequently, the following rules must be observed if the desired signals is to be forwarded to the receiver interrupted :

  • Classify cables on the basis of sensitivity on interference exposure. Lay cables with the same interference level next to each other and cables with different interference levels well apart.
  • Lay cables close to any metal housing.
  • Wherever possible, do not route cables through openings in housings (interference pick-up).
  • Do not use structures and line screens as the signals return circuit.
  • Avoid ring cabling.
  • Use send and return conductors which are twisted together.
  • On screened cables. The outer screen must be connected to earth at both ends. The inner screen can, of present, be earthed at one end dependent upon requirements (low frequencies) or at both ends (high frequencies)
  • Screens must be earthed at points at which cables pass through conductive walls or pannels.
  • Earth terminals and non-screened signal cables should be as short as possible. They thus absorb less radiated interference (antenna effect).
TWISTED PAIRED DATA TRANSMISSION CABLE

Electronics and Automation sector demand reliable transmission of signals with out any disruption. The increasing "electromagnetic pollution of the environment" caused by greater use of electronics has made it essential to achieve efficient transmission of important signals. Pair stranding is an effective way to oppose cross talk effects.

Dataflex can provide a high level of protection and ensures data transmission without the disruptive effects of high frequency interference with close (Annealed Tinned EC grade) braiding as screening.
